students

Here are the details you should know about the admission of students at FIG/International University.

Requirements for Admission
To be considered for admission, the applicant must:

  • Be a potential graduate or have graduated from a valid high school, private school or its equivalent (GED). Please take note that the admission of a potential graduate will be contingent upon successful graduation.
  • Pass the entrance test.
  • Send the scores of his or her Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT 1) or American College Test (ACT) to FIG/International University along with two (2) letters of recommendation and a college essay.
  • Send a transcript of work completed in high school or university as evidence of scholastic records.

An applicant whose native language is not English needs to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) as an additional requirement. Please take note that other documents may also be asked from the applicant as necessary.

Once we have received the complete documents, our staff will begin the evaluation and screening of the application. We will be sending out the decision on the application at the earliest possible date, usually within two weeks.

Applications for our Paralegal Program
An applicant who wants to initially apply for our Paralegal program must complete a test for reading and written English expression. He or she must also have grades in English classes completed in high school demonstrating a sound level of competency with the English language.

An applicant currently enrolled in our Legal Administrative Assistant or Legal Administration programs and wish to transfer to our Paralegal program may do so only in their third term. The applicant needs to send a request for transfer to the Legal Studies Program Manager. Such request will be evaluated based on the following:

  • Cumulative grade point average
  • Grade point average in legal courses taken to date
  • Attendance records
  • Other relevant factors

Once the application is accepted, the student may transfer to the Paralegal program at the beginning of the fourth term.

Procedures for Admission
Most of our programs start in the fall semester. However, there are also some programs that may start in March or July. Prior to application, the potential students will receive a tour of the school.

An applicant may write or call our Admissions Department to request an application form. This form must be completed and submitted to the Admissions Office together with the payment of the $50 application fee. In case the application is rejected, the application fee will be refunded.

Once we receive the application, we will ask the applicant to furnish us with the transcript of high school records and other requirements. Once the records are received, the evaluation and screening will begin. The decision will be transmitted to the applicant at the earliest possible date.
